2016 Camp NaNoWriMo’s Project: The Journey Chapter 1

I’m not publishing this post/series to brag or be vain, or whatever. I’m publishing this for something more of a personal use. Something I can look back on later in the writing process of my novel. Like a little remembrance of some sort.

Created by Planton Tz on NaNoWriMo in November of 2015.

Chapter One: Overview

In about the seventh grade, when I first watched Ghost Rider and laid eyes on Blackheart  played by Wes Bentley, the idea for the novel had first come to mind. A soul eater who falls for a human woman. At first, its name was Flashlight and looking at the very first draft of it (yes, I still have it), I can’t help but laugh. It’s amazing how far I’ve come with my writing. My main character’s name at the time was Novena and the villain (and her lover), Dark Heart.

4/30/2016 Camp NaNoWriMo Update: I WON.

I cut it close by finishing with 26,279 words, but I made it! Sadly, the chaos isn’t over just yet. I still have the part two session to get through.

Let the games begin because those first eleven chapters were just the beginning.

I honestly don’t really have much to say right now because it’s currently 6am and I had just stayed up three hours straight typing up the last of my chapters to finish the round.

Yes. I can now go sleep.

4/29/16 Camp NaNoWriMo Update: 5 Day Countdown (3/5)

Two days away from the end of the first writing session and I gotta say, I’m exhausted, partially burnt-out from all this writing going on, but excited. I know for a fact that as of this early morning, I have met my word count goal with a usual 2k-ish chapter ten and one hell of a long chapter eleven. Definitely more than 3,770 words there with those two chapters combined. Just have to type them up now and validate the wordcount on the website.

2/26/16 Camp NaNoWriMo Update: 5 Day Countdown (1/5)

Between the slacking, the procrastinating, and the ugly crying over current episodes of Outlander and Game of Thrones, I’ve managed to get close to being back on track with my word count. Go me, I suppose.

The more I sit at my computer and play World of Warcraft and get caught up on my favorite shows while also managing to keep interest with what I’m writing, I’ve realized something interesting.

It’s nice outside.

I can go outside without a freaking jacket on.

And to top that off, my mother had brought my bike out. Now all I have to do is refill the tires with air, clean it off, and, well, actually ride it. After all, I’m desperate for some weight loss this summer. And you know what I hate most? Writing isn’t helping one bit. HAH. My stomach’s getting more and more flabby.

I’ve tried to push myself at work more, to try to be quicker and walking around more and I’m ashamed to say I don’t hit 10k steps every day. Only long work days if I’m lucky.

Now all I need to do is figure out a schedule where I can write but like, also attempt to lose weight. I suppose it would be a lot easier if I weren’t planning on doing the second part of Camp NaNoWriMo. After all, I still have the second part of my story to write and I’d hate myself if I didn’t complete it all at once when I had the chance.

I’m trying to keep my head up. I want to win the first round of Camp NaNoWirMo, but now I’m starting to worry more about how much I need to be more active.

I guess only time will tell…

But luckily, as of this early morning, I’ve reached 21,230 words. 3,770 words away from reaching my goal. Yas bitch.

I finished chapter nine, which was a major obstacle for me being that it included some scenes I’m still unsure about. Chapter ten is the last chapter I’ve outlined so before I go to bed this morning, I plan to outline the next few chapters.

Last-minute work at its finest right there.

4/24/16 Camp NaNoWriMo Update

I just realized I had skipped two past updates. Woopsies. Well anyway, here we are, 7 days away from the end of Camp NaNoWriMo’s first writing session and I’m now at 18,259 words out of 25,000. Now, granted I have yet to proofread the past two chapters typed up, that’s just where the word count currently stands at. And unfortunately, according to the statistics of Camp NaNo’s website…I’ll finish on May 2nd if I don’t get my head in the game.

4/15/16 Camp NaNoWriMo Update

This was a much-needed update. Let’s be honest here. And after getting behind on my writing and struggling through a very boring short chapter, I had finally reached the point of the novel where more exciting things will begin to happen.

The past few day had been weird. While I had planned to write after work Tuesday, I had found myself sick. Sleeping most of the day, I didn’t really feel in the spirits of writing, so I thought I’d write the next day. And I did…just…really late. After my boyfriend had left, I stayed up til about 5am writing non-stop in my notebook and got as far as one and a half chapters.

And let me tell ya. My hand hurts like a bitch from all of that writing.

Finishing the latest chapter today, I was about to get in roughly about 5,000 words and after typing it up and updating my word count on my statistics page on Camp NaNoWriMo, I’m happy and proud of myself to announce that I am now back on track with my writing.

Going to take about a day’s break from all this writing and let my hand rest a little bit, I at least have the next six chapters all planned out and ready to be written.

So anywho. I’ve officially reached 14,575 out of 25,000 words. I’m happy with myself for now. Now onto chapter seven!
